KBT sees China as an important long-term partner for education, research and social innovation. Priority areas include eldercare and the silver economy, mental health and community-based support, vocational education, rural and regional development, and joint research. KBT has facilitated a meeting in Norway for representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in 2025 KBT was specially invited to China as a guest in connection with the ASEAN meeting.

Urban-Rural Bridge
Sustainable farming as a way to reconnect Chinese city and village communities.
In the past couple of years, China has seen large numbers of farmers migrating to the cities for a better life, leaving millions of left-behind children and aged people in the rural villages. Village communities are falling apart. On the other hand, cities are troubled by pollution and food scandals. Fred Yang believes sustainable farming can be a new model to help both communities.
Fred was born in the Western Hunan mountains in China. He moved to Shanghai as an adult before returning to his home town to be a farmer. He is the founder of Rainbows of Hope, an initiative hoping to bridge the rural and urban communities in China.
