Arctic Meets Silk Road submitted to China International College Students' Innovation Competition 2026

Three students from KBT Vocational College are collaborating with students from Hunan University of Science and Technology on a project comparing Northern Norwegian culture with Chinese Silk Road traditions.

We are pleased to announce that Arctic Meets Silk Road: Northern Norway and Chinese Silk Road Traditions has been submitted to the China International College Students' Innovation Competition 2026.

The project is one of 12 KBT teams participating in this year's competition, reflecting a strong commitment to international student collaboration, innovation and cross-cultural learning.

Through the project, students explore how food, clothing, music, landscapes, storytelling, trade and migration have shaped communities, identity and resilience across two very different regions. Rather than focusing only on differences, Arctic Meets Silk Road looks at the connections created by geography, movement and cultural exchange.

The students will communicate their findings through creative formats such as exhibitions, podcasts and digital storytelling.

The project is developed in collaboration with Hunan University of Science and Technology in China and demonstrates how international student cooperation can create new perspectives, strengthen intercultural understanding and build lasting connections between Norway and China.

We are proud to see KBT represented by 12 teams in this international innovation competition and look forward to following the projects further.
