Peer support workers joined the college team

KBT Vocational College hired peer support workers dedicated to the college itself — from administration and representation to student contact and guidance.
With roots in KBT Competence Center for Lived Experience and Service Development, peer support workers have been connected to the organisation from the start, including on the board. Having peer support workers dedicated to the college is something different again.
All of them graduated from the college’s first study programme, the education for peer support workers, so they know from the inside what it is like to be a student here.
Many students have not been in school for years and need a different kind of support than a nineteen-year-old straight out of upper secondary. Some have dyslexia or similar challenges, and guidance built on lived experience of coping with them has become a popular offer.
